Thanks.
Yesterday in med anth we had to announce our research project topic. Team member D wasn’t in class on Monday, when two of my other members decided to form a group, and asked to join last minute. Since she’s a friend, it’s difficult to say no. When the professor called our group and asked what topic we wanted to research, I spoke for the group. Because team member B was late therefore not in class yet and team member C was on the other side of the classroom because she needs to see the board and hear the professor. There I am speaking with a shaky voice presenting our topic, thinking it was a good idea, because it’s not expected and we could come up with something new and revelating. The professor then beings to ask about methods. WHAT?!?!

I thought you just wanted us to pick a topic?! Shock and caught off guard I started stuttering… There I am getting ripped apart when team member C decides to jump ship and and announce she is joining another group with a better topic. In the middle of all this…

After this, team member D then starts to talk and propose a much different topic then the one I spoke about. We didn’t decide this?! How can you bring up a topic that was not discussed with the group.

Thank you class. Thank you for laughing that my team member decided, in front of the whole class, that my topic was insignificant and would rather work with someone else. Thank you team. We showed the class that we don’t have anything together. Great first impression.

It’s only the third week. I don’t even know what I got myself into…

What sucks even more is that after class I said I wanted to drop this class. Team members B and C said that it was good they decided to stick with my topic to keep me from dropping. That would have been good to know before all of this… since “we” now have to come up with a new proposal.
